John Deere 990 won't start after Fuel Filter Change

My problem was apparently the filter was clogged. When I turn the fuel switch on the filter that is by the motor, the plastic piece inside the valve snapped. I took the metal lever off and turned the plastic piece with a screwdriver.

good to hear. wish that was my problem, but since i know diesel goes thru when 'on', the problem remains a heartbreaking mystery.

Well, heart-breaking problem resolved. It came down to pulling one end of the fuel lines off and getting the diesel to flow through and replacing the battery.

I didn't read the whole thread but the Kubota M7040 has a hand pump on the top of the fuel filter canister. It has to be pumped to get the gas flowing through the filter and on to the engine.

I actually had to read the manual to get the tractor to start. Imagine that!:laughing:
