John Deere Buy back policy

Neil likes to make drive-thru comments like that in the JD forum because he'd secretly like to get a JD dealership...

He cruises the Kioti forum too. To be fair he never hides his affiliation and every once in a while has a very constructive comment.

At over 2500 posts, Neil cruises lots of forums in the site. He has been a poster for as long as I have been posting (and then some). I have nothing against Neil, nor his opinions. They are welcome to me, whether they be on the Kubota forum or the JD one. Unfortunately, in this case and relating to our OP's original dilemma, the response was--based on experiences by me and others with some knowledge of these cases--not representative of John Deere corporate's stance on dealing with problematic machines. I want to make sure that others looking in on this forum are not suaded to believe JD as a company has a policy of placing returned machines back on dealer lots for resale based on the statement in question.

Just wanted to update on my buy back on my 997. The owner of the dealership called me and said he had a 997 of his own that he would swap me if I was interested in doing that. It had less hours than mine and still looked brand new. I went and looked at it and checked it out and was pleased with the unit so I went ahead and swapped. Hopefully I will not have any problems with this unit as I really like the 997 just not the problems my other one had. Only time will tell.

I highly recommend you install a rear bumper/grill guard on your 997 unless it already has one. Lots of expensive parts behind that rear grill.

I am aware of a gas powered Gator with the kawasaki motor that had problems filling the crankcase with gasoline. It was out of warranty and JD replaced it with the yanmar diesel version. This guy is a good JD customer which may have had something to do with it.
