I have a Stihl MS 290 Farm Boss and love it! I have a John Deere CS36LE coming with my tractor next week so I'll have to let you know how I like it. The Farm Boss is an 18" saw and the John Deere will be a 14" saw. The John Deere will be used for little jobs or thrown on the back of the quad because it's smaller and lighter.

JMT,

I can't address your question, but may I ask why you are parting with the LX5 for the aftermarket Bush Hog? I am considering the LX5 myself and would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Sorry to side track the discussion /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have a John deere CS46 18" bar and love it. It is kinda heavy but very powerful and built heavy duty. It a 45cc engine and compression release and anti-viderating handle.I brought it for 328.00 at my John Deere dealer.

i am getting rid of the LX5 for a couple of reasons. first is i dont need it yet. it will be several months before we get moved to a new property where it will be needed. second is i am told by others that i can get a better value with another brand. basically heavier duty for the same money. since they are willing to give me my money back in trade value i decided to get some other items i need more.

i have never owned a chain saw but have a need for one now to use in conjunction with my new tractor. i will not be cutting firewood or any heavy work, i dont think. any recommendations on specific models. are there other brands considered a better buy?
