Re: John Deere "E" Series Hydraulic Systems Failures Overheating, Stuck Valves, etc

How can you say you weren't bashing? Was this your experience?

I am pretty sure I expressed my experience with this problem in the beginning of this thread. I shopped for a John Deere tractor in the 5xxx series and was told by my local dealer that there were transmission/hydraulic problems in some models and that I should avoid those. I took the John Deere dealer's advice.

I have owned at least one piece of John Deere equipment without interruption since 1978. I currently own one. I also operate a John Deere road grader and have operated 6 different new John Deere road graders since 1989.

I highly respect John Deere equipment. I have never bashed the brand as a whole and have not done so in this thread. My stand here is that there is a problem with some models. John Deere knows there is a problem. They will eventually be forced to face that problem and correct it. It simply saddens me that their first response is to blame the operators.

It also saddens me in a discussion such as this that TBN members, not liking what they read, turn the topic into member bashing. I reread this entire thread. Nowhere in any of my posts did I bash any members or any of their comments. I have simply stated my experiences involving this topic.

Hopefully you will never find yourself in a position similar to what has been described here with any of your equipment, John Deere, Kubota, or whatever brand you wish to insert into this sentence. But if you do I also hope that you will get support from fellow TBN members and not be critized for daring to mention a problem.

Lol, not aimed directly at anyone, but if you think you fit the description...

I would say that I will not ever likely own a 5093E ltd JOHN Deere. If I did, I would have a tear of gratefulness and certainly would think I would be inexplicably content.

Sorry, but everything is relative. I also grew up on a farm with Case, IH, Zetor, Massey and found much satisfaction in the end with JD with products from the 50s, 60s, 70s......

Are you saying that if you bought a new JD tractor and the fuel tank melted you would hvae a tear of gratefulness and be inexplicably content??

I would trust that a company producing farm machinery since 1837 would support their product. I would not sit in silence allowing people to call them greedy etc.. Without acknowledging how nice it was to use and operate....

If I didn't own the 5093 I would not have made the comment that newer Deeres aren't what they used to be. I would still think the John deere makes a top quality product. After putting over 500 hours on the 5093 and having many problems I can honestly say first hand that the 5E limited tractors aren't that great. It is dissapointing to spend that much on a tractor and realize it doesn't meet your expectations of quality.
I have been hearingthe same thing from other farmers in my area.

What worries me is JD seems to not want to step up and admit the issues. In the hydraulic issue they usually blame the operator. Bummer.

?????

I have a neighbor that is a dairyman that bought a new 5603 that he's states is the sorriest tractor he has every owned. I know this is his 6th JD tractor that he bought new. the 5603 has had the engine overhauled from water in the oil,new damper clutch and numerous hyd problems that I know of with just a little over 3000 hrs on the tach.

In this thread, post #32, paragraphs 5 and 6.

In a lengthy thread about this problem earlier on TBN the JD factory Rep stated that the hydraulics were overheating because the operators were sitting against the rear remote levers and causing them to bo into relief bypass, which would heat the oil.

If you've ever held a hydraulic lever in relief bypass mode you would realize it would be nearly impossible to continuously do that without recognizing the problem and moving off the lever.

And I don't consider Matt's statement brand bashing. I think it's an honest observation of his experiences with a certain tractor model.

We could be having this discussion about Kubota's jerky 3pt on some models. Or other brands with other problems.

As Matt said, it's very dissapointing to spend that much money and not be confident in the product. Doesn't matter what color it is painted.

Re: John Deere "E" Series Hydraulic Systems Failures Overheating, Stuck Valves, etc

If I read the posting I see the man says:

-JD has changed tank location - if they didn't care and were ignoring, why would they do that?
-repair costs - I am unclear who paid

Why I think you were bashing.

Thank you - tell the whole story.

...and yes, I do like open discussion.
