No problem with battery life for us, just plug in the onboard charger when they get down around 25% on the battery indicator.

Polaris claims a 50 mile range in the Max Range mode, but I think they left out "downhill with a strong tail wind".

It uses 8, 12 volt deep cycle batteries. Two banks of 4 in series connected in parallel to get 48 volts.
Down to 25% is deep cycling lead acid batteries and not a good idea. Better to charge at 66% .

Yep, but this battery discharge indicator on the dash is not a voltage meter and is designed as a range indicator for the deep cycle batteries. The display is 0 on the left and 1 on the right.

When the second bar from the left flashes, it is 70% discharge. I have never ran it that low.

Polaris Battery Indicator

This is how the battery indicator displays power left, as power is used.

I am thinking about adding a John Deere Electric Gator to my fleet.

Can someone enlighten me as to their evolution?

I only notice that the Beds seem to have gone from Metal to what looks largely plastic on the
newer ones.

Where there other differences? Were they all 48 volt? This is of the utmost importance to me.

Have the motors and control circuits changed at all. Are some better? Some to avoid?

Thanks

Plastic beds don't rust...:)

Batteries were Trojan T-105s....new units are supposed to have Trojan T-145s

Current TE is 145 amp units...2011s were 105 amp units

The clearance is 7.3" under foot platform vs 10" in a Polaris Ranger EV

Here is a Tech Manual for the eGator http://golftechs.us/Manuals/JDegator.pdf

In our area the local Polaris Dealer wasn't interested in supporting Ranger EV which is why we went Gator TE, so that is one thing to determine if your JD AG Service Center will support your Gator TE

Well, I got one, at auction. And, am tickled pink! Just the thing for all those short stop and go tasks. No starting my Mule Diesel engine to take the recylables out to the road.

But get this!

Proprietary plug (at end of charger) $377.00
Rear Axle (less motor) $5500.00
Controller $4500.00

Canadian Funds.

I know, I have defended high parts prices in the past, but these just leave me numb and in a daze!

Sure hope you don't need any major parts for it.

How about some pictures? :D
