I agree with cowboydoc. The Deere equipment at Home Depot addresses the very low end of the market that Deere really didn't have a presence in. They are going after the typical buyer of Craftsman, Murray, MTD and other cheap lawn mowing tractors.
Remember John Deere just brought out their Sabre line of lower priced equipment a few years back. Using Home Depot as a new sales channel just broadens their market of these lower priced machines.
