won't turn over. Cleaned the battery terminals, tried to start it without the plugs in, no luck. It just clicks when attempting to start it. The PTO engager plug shorts anytime I try to pull it out with the key in the ON position. Does anyone have ANY ideas, Please help. I just got this thing from my father in law. Could it be a starter, is my engine locked?
thanks in advance,

Welcome to the forum.
What do you mean by "tried to start it without the plugs in" ?

Sounds like a dead battery. Have you charged it?

Maybe we can work your way through this, as there are lots of knowledge here, (somewhere, sometimes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ).

Thanks for the dead battery idea. I'm taking it into my local John Deere store to test the "amperage". The battery had enough "juice" to turn on the warning lights right before it turns on, but it might not had enough power to turn the engine over. What does the engine sound like if the starter is bad, guys? If it's not my battery, could it be something else?

If the starter was locked up... it would sound about like what it does now. It would click, but not turn the engine over. I'm betting you have a dead battery!

It's not the battery or PTO engager knob. Any other ideas buddy? I have the dealer picking it up on Friday. I hate to do it because of money, but I'm afraid of messing it up even more.
thanks /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Have You checked the seat switch?
With it bad You won't even get a click when You turn the key. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If the clutch fuse is blowing it more than likely is the clutch itself, Mine did that a few years ago to the tune of $125.00 for the clutch, and I put it in myself.

Well, I guess you need to get a test light and see if it is getting power to the starter. If so.. tap on the starter motor and try to turn it over with the key. That may free up the starter if it's locked up.

Also check all your connections including any grounds.
