Anyone know where to look first if my chain keeps jumping off on one of my row units on the tension idler assembly. It seemed to work better before I tore it apart and painted it....
Thanks!

Check for misalignment.

How do I check for misalignment? I order and installed new chain, sprockets, idler cam assembly, thrust washer... basicall everything inside the drive unit and it is still skipping off the 2 small 7 tooth idler sprockets. Getting a little frustrated.
Thanks in advance...

Looking at the picture, if you put a straight edge on the driven gear (big one on right side of pic), the chain and drive gear should be in line. The planter in the picture is a 70 Flexi, and doesn't use an idler. In your 71, all the gears have to line up. Another way to check would be to measure from the back of the drive housing to make sure all the gears are at the same distance. HTH. Mark
