The area that's wearing through fit sheet metal in there so it won't wear through anymore it sounds to me you're picking up rocks and sticks it's wearing the plastic out
No idea how anyone can put sheet metal in side of the blower housing .
If it was round and flat maybe but it is not also it is two piece and not steel .(any metal will need bolts)
I have zero rocks and very small sticks to pick up .
