John Deere to release articulated tractor

Apologies for dredging up this thread, but this Italian made tractor is now being sold through JD Agriculture. The cool part wasn't just reading the specs, but mostly the operators manual for it. Very interesting machine, especially the do's and don'ts regarding the operation of the air cooled diesel.

Interesting to note...just thought of this.... does anyone remember the Deere orchard tractor from the 30s? It was regarded as one of the most sought after antiques because of its styling. It had streamlined hood and fenders, low profile...a very, beautiful tractor. I'll have to dig up the model number. But this new articulated orchard tractor, i guess is the evolution today. It would be nice if Deere could design their own with the spirit of the old antique but that won't happen. Deere is global. They perchased a Finnish forestry equipment company and painted everything green and yellow. Another note on the user manual for the new Deere articulated tractor, while reading it you can tell it is translated from Italian. On the Deere Ag. site, they have some good color pictures of the various features of the tractor...

Still absolutely nothing on attachments, though. I like the looks of this unit, and would consider replacing my 455 garden tractor with one, but I need to see mowing options, etc.

Looks like you can only run rear three point hitch equipment with it. When I did a search for Goldoni and Lombardini, I found a site...Ferrari tractors or something that showed several articulating machines, one of which had a dozer blade on the front. Most most just run rear 3PH stuff. Check out the top looking down view on the Deere machine. You don't want your leg in the wrong place making a tight turn.

Hmmm...isn't that the goal when you're running a business (it's how I run mine)?

What benefit(s) would a small articulated tractor provide?

Yes, all business's should be run to make a profit. BUT, there is profit in brand name, it's why JD green takes more greenbacks to take home. Slapping your name on a product made by someone else can ruin your name and harm you far more than it can profit you.

I would think that JD is well aware of this and has implemented quality programs to ensure that the green and yellow splashed Italian tractor is up to snuff. But, who knows? It is a neat looking machine.

"Equal wheel design with 39-in. wheelbase for stability" So, I measured my two monitors... from end to end... 42" :D I would love to see a person (for scale) in the photos.

EDIT: Thanks unit40!!! Missed it the first time, I now see it with the guy driving it!!!

teg,
try the link 'special purpose tractors' in my previous post. Scroll down a little and you'll see a guy on it. It is painted Goldoni red, not green 'n yeller.

Check out Goldoni's website! You can download a PDF of their tractor catalog. It has some great pics. of the tractor in use.
