Follow up on x380 performance
Finally, I was able to get out and mow a three acre lot I plan to use this mower to maintain. The lot had not been cut since first of last summer. It was very thick. Actually, it should have probably been bush hogged first. But I had the 380 with me so I gave it a go.
The mower cut very well in one year growth grass/weeds. I was able to mow at full speed. The cut was clean and complete on one pass. I was mowing on setting 2. The grass was easily over 12 inches. So I was cutting it pretty close. The grass was dry, mid day, no clogs. The mower deck handled the massive volume of grass with ease. The engine is very strong. It did not bog down in the grass. The only problem I ran into was fire ant mounds. They were enormous. If the grass was 12 inches tall then so was the mound. These I quickly learned to spot and deal with. The deck foot left made dealing with them possible. I'd lift to cut the top half back up and drop for the lower half. The grass discharged was so thick it looked as though I was preparing to bale hay. I'll cut again in a day or two to clean it up. I'll also have some food for the ants on my next visit.
Anyway, fantastic mower that is incredibly powerful. If you are considering this model I think you will be well pleased.
