John Deere X320

I pulled the trigger on a X360 with delivery this Monday or Tuesday. I still plan to repair the L130, if the parts/delivery costs are reasonable...a good winter project?
The primary reasons I chose the X360 over the X320:
a) tranny user serviceable
b) slightly faster forward speed
c) Hydralic lift for current/future attachments
d) power steering

thanks for the feedback!!!!
I was just going to say go with the 360 I have one and its great, replaced an LT 180 and you will love the hydraulics if you add snow blower.

Congratulations on the new addition. Unless you have a sentimental attachment for your L-130 or just want a winter project; I'd junk it. That's what I plan to do with my L-130 when it finally has a major failure.

I'm not made of money; but I learned with my '83 S-10 pickup that pouring good money after bad into an inferior machine isn't worth it.

If you have not picked it up or paid anything try to work a deal. Tell them you will purcahse the X360 if they will sell you at cost the tranny on the L130or help with labor.

When I cracked open the tranny on my L130 the first thing i noted was the color of the oil...black with lots of various sized metal pieces(dust to popcorn size). I cleaned the housing of oil metal pieces but did not remove the pump side of the tranny.
The differential gears is what wore out out and subsequently failed on the K46AC.
I decide to first try my cheapest repair option.... replace the differential gears($25) and change the filter($11). Added 2.3L of 5W50 synthetic oil($20) and reassembled the unit and installed it on the L130.
Fired it up to start the air purging procedure that Tuff Torq recommends but the transaxle just started working...completed the procedure anyway.
We have now 3 hours of cutting on it...climbing hills, pulling carts appear to be better than when we first purchased the L130.
The folks at Tuff Torq have a great web site and their customer service is better than most. However it appears that their parts business is setup as a big margin contributor for the business. Their repair kit at $374 and replacement tranny at $682 are way over priced.
Thanks again to all the members that gave me the courage/info to attempt the repair!!!

IF you remove the Tranny, drain it and remove the bottom cover (unit upside down) you will find there are dirty Magnets and a filter. You can drill and tap for Drain plugs in existing bosses. Big job. Air must be bled. for K58 ONLY, refill with 10W-30, both vent and Fill plugs. Be very careful in removing Vent plug. Kit available from Tuff-Torq. These trannys are NOT designed for pulling heavy implements.
