15k man i ain't gettin one for no 15k lol. i'll stick with my 04"for that price.

Amen to that brother! I am not paying 15K for a UTV I don't care who makes it or how "great" it is! Since I only have 38 hours on my '04 HPX that will be fine for me for a long time! :)

My understanding is the machine is to be priced competitively. I do not know where the 15K number comes from, but my dealer said his source within the company, who has ways of knowing, made a point to him the price would be in line with the machines they are seeking to outsell: namely the Kubota RTV and the Polaris Ranger and Kawasaki Mule. I suspect we will be looking at a retail of around 10-11K on the gasoline and about 12-12.5 on the diesel, with the trail series being about 500 more. That is still pricey, but is much better than 15. I personally think this XUV will be the best work/play (primarily work) UTV available and this is the main reason I am waiting. I spoke with our Polaris dealer and was ready to buy when my JD friend said WAIT!!!! I realize the Polaris and Yamaha, both great machines, and others mentioned have nice features, but I feel Deere is serious about making the XUV the current standard. Looking at pulling, wheel travel, heaviness of construction and dealer support, I feel a machine like this is tough to pass up. I also have the aforementioned high hope that my numbers are pricing are correct as if the machine is priced in the mid teens, few people will buy--no matter how good the machine is.

I agree. I beleive 10 grand will be real close for the base model.15k was speculation. You can buy a 2520 compact for that. John Deere would not do that. They are competitive.
They didn’t throw this together overnight without any r & d.
I bet it will rock. Fuel injection, 45% faster takeoff, 100% more ground clearance. I can't wait~! :D

i would wait for 08.lol thats when they will fix the rearend issue.this thing i gonna have so many recalls on it for that rearend breakin.

that is not gonna hold up to someone pulling a load the gussets are in the wrong spot and the bend should not even be there someone is gonna backup with a load hooked to it and that thing is gonna bend inward or they gonna takeoff and it's gonna bend outwards. where that gusset is it should have went straight up into the mounting bolt. that bend should not even be there.if you get it get an extended warranty .

Aww, c'mon Tommy, quit beating around the bush and tell us what you really think about the XUV! :p

I'm really wondering if those are 25" tires on it now. If so, it will be one cool beast with 27" tires. It sort of reminds me of the Dodge pickups in that they look like their stock tires are too small on their 4X4 pickups. You know, it's like they have a lift kit from the factory. I'm an old boy who likes a little ground clearance with my 4X4's; not one of these kids now who wants their trucks to drag their frames on the ground when going down the road. Gees, I'll never get that fad. I could literally back over the top of one of those things with my 4X4 Cummins powered dually Dodge that has a 4" lift kit and never know it was anything more than a speed bump.

I think you ought to see one in person Tommy. I just can't see JD putting out something that is exceptionally weak. I'm not saying it would be impossible, but with the Kubota RTV900 being as strong as it is, I can't see JD coming out with something that is a step down from the existing HPX units. For example, here is a pic of two tractors I now own. Although the JD is bigger, neither are what I'd consider weak by any stretch of the imagination.

yea i have to see one in person but that rear end looks really weak.i hope i'm wrong cause i really want a new hpx!!i wanna stick with john deere. that rearend can be beafed up with a little work i say about 2 hours and a welding machine and i can have it as stronge as ever.but i'll hold off until i see one in person.i would put two outside supports going from the bend to the rear swing arm. and then i would put a lattice type cross brace going across the front of that main rearend to stop it from bending in or out.butthats just me .loli'll wait till they come out and see and then i'll make my decission as to what i'm gonna go with. but if i get a hpx i'm gonna beaf up that rearend myself. of it will spend some time in the shop cause i do some jerkin with mine. i do flat land haulin but my son i get him to get on it to yank stumps out and sometimes i hook onto some heavy loads and you can feel the hpx jerk when you take off or stop.olny time will tell.as for what i think i love them all but the buttend..lol

You need to see it in person. The way the forces are transferred it shouldn't bend there. JD said they put the XUV through the exact same test program as the HPX, so it should hold up. It just looks weird the way the engine cradle hangs down from the main green frame. Plus the size of the green frame dwarfs that cradle tubing. There as supposed to be some heavy duty skid plates coming too. This machine was a pre-production model we were told.

This is by far the heaviest duty IRS out there. When loaded, it doesn't sag at all like a Polaris does. You keep almost all your suspension travel even when loaded. No other UV can say that. But the overall machine is not too heavy or complex like the Kubota. It should split the difference well between the Kubota and the Polaris.

i will see when they come out . cause i sure would luike to have one. but before i buy one i'm gonna have them hook it up to a trailro in the lot and see what it does.i done nuthin but fabrication work my whole life untile i got hurt on the job and that tubing and the design don't look like it will hold up.but like i said before i hope i'm wrong cause i really want a new hpx model. now if you weld skid plates to the bottom of the engine frame and add some stiffners to the front i would feel better but for now i don't know about it.

That would be perfect! As you can tell from the picture I posted, I like both JD and Kubota. From extensive research, tests, and way too much time crawling under, over and measuring, I've come to the conclusion that the Kubota RTV900 is heavier and a bit stronger. However, it is certainly slower and lacks much of the "fun factor" the HPX has. That's beside my opinion that the HPX simply looks better. On the other side, the Ranger is certainly faster, but is not as strong and suited to hard work as either the HPX or the RTV900. To split the difference between the two sure looks like a great target market in my mind.

Now, if they'd just come up with a factory cab with A/C, heat, power steering, and a stronger driveline like the RTV, it would be undoubtedly at the top of the heap. Maybe in the works for 2008??? :)
