check to see if the carburetor has a plastic needle valve.. if so, you need a rebuild kit with a stainless steel needle valve.. B&S sometimes skimps, but I think it's due to JD demanding it..(JD would get the repair)..
JD would not "get the repair." The dealer might, if the owner took the mower to the dealer. But, JD doesn't make any money from the labor and all JD corporate would get is some amount on parts.
These conspiracy ideas that products are engineered to fail are incredible. JD's gross revenue in 2017 was 26.6 BILLION dollars. How many rebuild kits or needle valves do you think JD would have to sell to affect the bottom line? A million? 10 million? Yeah...that's realistic.
