4120 CUT John Deere
I have a 2008 John Deere 4120 CUT tractor and John Deere does not make the part for my tractor. The dealer was informed they are not making parts for it anymore. The part is the PTO valve module. When told this I wondered what the hell. The dealer did say that for now they can get the parts to rebuild it, springs ,valves, pistons, O-rings and more. Lucky for me the body was okay. I got that tractor because I wanted a tier 3 and not the tier 4. Called Stiner for parts and they said only for really older tractors and this was too new. So I asked dealer what would I have done if not for getting parts to fix it and he said "not a thing". He said parts are only available until they are all gone. Are all tractor dealers getting like this. I know they have after market for cars, trucks but when you spend a lot for a tractor you expect to get parts when needed. My dealer checked with all dealers of tractor parts and even Deere's remand plant but none. He even checked with salvage yards but no luck. Have any of you had the same problem.

Recent thread where a owner of a MF431 was in about the same predicament..

Wow, when I think on whether or not parts for my '62 and '67 tractors will become an issue, I conclude "fair enough if they stopped". I wouldn't have even considered it possible to be unable to buy parts for something modern.
Best of luck. Thanks for the learning lesson.

I have a Case-IH MX270 and cannot get electric/hydraulic spool valves for it anymore. Have to pull them off salvage tractors and most of them are gone.
Very disheartening to have a 22 year old 300HP farm tractor with some parts unavailable.

Replacment parts are a matter of sourcing and stocking. Oem companies have the information. It's a matter of releasing prints, getting quotes, then stocking. I worked for a company that had in the past made some replacement parts that required fairly extensive operations - broaching, hot forging, fitting and forming etc, - for companies like deere, used on decades old machines. Thing is, I could here the angst in their puchasing managers tone from not being able to find anyone to fill the order (quantities were very low). And they accepted our price.

Hang on Deere haters…..
This goes on with all brands and we know that.

Looks like Green is turning Brown. :cautious: But you can't expect a manufacturer to keep making parts for old equipment. The cost and storage space to do that would be enormous. They'd have to charge quadruple for a like part on a current machine. Oh, wait, they do that now for five-year-old machines.

The typical life span of automobile replacement parts is 10 years. At least is used to be. It may be far less now. Even then, the makers have to battle the aftermarket manufacturers and re-manufacturers for that small piece of the pie. The money is in new equipment not keeping the old ones running.

The total number of units ever sold also affects availability of parts by OEM and aftermarket suppliers. Parts for rare tractors are also rare.

What is the part # for the complete module?
