I am interested in buying a John Deere 2305 tractor. Do you think my local John Deere dealer will let me test drive the tractor as soon as they get one in? They were very surprised to find out i wanted to buy a John Deere 2305 At the age of 15 with implements. i have talked to a few equipment sellers i do not know which seller to buy from seller #1 i got the original quote from him or seller #2 i talked to him in person.

THIS IS GOING TO BE MY VERY FIRST TRACTOR!:)

Thanks for the help in advance.:)

I'd imagine they'll want your mom or dad to be involved for liability reasons.

"get one in"??
where are you located that the dealer doesn't have 1
in stock?

what is your background? were you raised on a farm
and have you operated equipment for years?

and what resources are you using to pay for the tractor?

if you are an experienced operator, and have the funds,
i don't see any reason at all why you couldn't test drive
and purchase a tractor

:D

Maybe a test drive with your parent/guardian present. No way will they sell it to you - you cannot legally enter into a contract until you are 18.

Great input from all.
I think I have moved from the X500 to X700 and now 2305. The 2305 seems to hold its value well as the units on machinefinder don't seem much less than new. Just need to find or finance the price.
I have also been reading some of the scary stuff on the safety forum. Any reason to think a X700 would be more stable (lower center of gravity) vs 2305? I know the 2305 has ROPS and belt so it should be safer. I am now thinking safety should be a big concern and worth the extra money.
Thanks

I wish I'd had something like a 2305 when I was 15, would have been in heaven!
Are you going into business with it or just a big garden?
I would say definitely go with the 2305 if only for the standard category 1 3 point hitch. It is a little height limited but you have more options. (I don't know, do the x-series offer cat 1 hitch?)
I've had my 2210 (mechanically nearly identical to 2305) for 5 years and have 450 hours on it. Never any trouble. And I did buy it for its safety as well as the capability for a loader. I just posted the other day about how stable it is.
