Johnny Bucket vs dirt scoop

/ Johnny Bucket vs dirt scoop #31
I just built a dirt scoop for myself and have not used it that much yet. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/98421-dirt-scoop-3-pt-first.html Monday I am going to be giving it a workout. However, in my limited experience a hyd toplink would help especially in the loading of the scoop. The angle of attack could be varied easily and that would make it easier to control the depth of the dig. It is not so necessary as far as tiping it back to retain the dirt. Not as much fell as I was expecting would, and I was working in sand. I suppose that if you had to carry the load up a steep hill that you might loose a bit more.

The spilling I've had comes from overloading the scoop, but you can control the depth of the scoop with either position or draft control.
