A remote is a rear hydraulic port. They are often used for things like the hydraulic cylinders for a top and tilt set up.

There was a similar thread on here a few days ago. You can have rear remotes or one toward the front commonly referred to as a 2rd function valve I believe for running grapples and such.

Here is a rear remote; don't have a third function.
