Does anyone else out there just get on their tractor and ride around in the woods or am I the only sicko? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I really enjoy doing this. Sometimes after working I come home and get on the tractor and ride slowly through the woods just to get away.

Your a sicko all right. I wouldn't dream of hopping on my tractor and driving through the woods.

I take mine down a long lonely dirt road. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

No, CSAW. You're not the only sicko. I like getting on my JD425 and taking it for a spin in the back fields, if only to get me up to the top of one of our hills that has real nice vistas of the Cambridge Valley and Green Mtns of Vermont. I'm looking forward to my JD4710 so I can take this for a spin on our old logging trails through the woods. There's just something about tractors and woods /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Well, lets put it this way. I was beating through the woods, and mowing the brush. And in NY I got weeks till the grass starts growing. I used the excuse that I wanted to get a head start on the brush before everything starts growing/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif my wife did not buy it, but she lets me have my fun.

Oh, you're a sicko alright, CSAW, but you're far from alone. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I call it "riding patrol", but it amounts to the same thing. Take a look at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=owning&Number=86839&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post86839>the excuses</A> others have come up with.

Don't tell me that is not normal./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

This may cost me several thousands in thearpy. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

Maybe instead I'll just purchase another implement. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I wouldn't call it sicko..now what do women call it /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif ahh yes..its a male thing or male bonding w/a tractor /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif and we get the /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif look also...naaa were not sicko we just know how to relax. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

If that's sicko behaviour, then I need to be committed! I've been known to drive around our subdivision when I'm desperate for tractor time. Everyone else uses a wheelbarrow or 5 gallon buckets to sweep up the winter debris along the curbs. I'm the only one in our sub who does that with a FEL. No, it's not sick, it's perfectly normal /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That's why you'll find so many "logging" roads in the woods. I know. I've made several myself. My neighbor goes further and uses his small dozer sometimes. His son's got the same illness and has disced 30 acres for food plots for me with his tractor just because he likes it.

That's just got to rub some people the wrong way over there, eh?

I call it surveying my domain. In mud season, I've even found another excuse, er, reason to ride. In the evening, just as the mud begins to refreeze, I drive up and down the road to leave it covered with treadmarks. When it freezes, all those mini ridges provide excellent traction. If I forget, the road becomes a sheet of ice only my tractor with her gnarly ice chains can manage to climb.

I always ride around our property and our neighbor's property on my tractor. When I finally get our second tractor, my wife wants to join me, because she thinks it's fun, too. In fact, she wants to get a Farmall Cub, just for her to ride around on. Luckily, she likes vintage tractors just like I do!!

My camera is home, but I took a picture of a sharp Cub for you and the wife Saturday... up @ KC Canary...

I'll try to post it later tonight... in the meantime call up Mark and inquire as to price... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

{and I realize this is auction month and the dollars will be set aside for that 50-60 hp haying tractor you've got your heart set on...}

Yeah, but those are the same people who are justifying our move to the country /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You guys have really got to come and visit me!!! I could give you all the tractor time you ever dreamed of!!! And doing some real work too.

/ JOY RIDING ON TRACTOR #17
I'm sure I'd enjoy that Richard but unfortunately my lack of seat time isn't so much a lack of real work, rather a lack of real time. For example, I'm taking Thursday off. Not to work out at the property but to paint trim in our current house /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif Gotta get it ready to sell /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks, John, but like you said, I've got my heart set on the 50hp+ tractor. My money is limited, so she can use my Fergie for joy riding until we have extra money for a Farmall. Believe it or not, her dream is to have a Farmall to drive around on, and she'll settle for a Cub, since it's the smallest. I'm a little more practical, so first we have to get the big tractor for the hay operation. It is great that my wife is into tractors and farming also. I want several tractors, so does she./w3tcompact/icons/love.gif And when I tell her I need another implement she always says the same thing..."If you think we need it, get it!" If only we had more money!!!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You need to start up a dude ranch. Have all the city folk come to your place and pay you to do farm chores! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I bought my Farmall-A just for joy riding, and parades. I posted pictures of the Christmas parade a few months ago. It was great! I do have a mower I'm rebuilding for it, just for a little justification though/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
