I remember the pictures Robert! Your Farmall is beautiful! I love all vintage tractors, but there's something special about Farmalls. They're just the quintesential tractors!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

...And doing some real work too. ..

Richard...

What do ya think... some sick puppies... eh...?

They need to be on a hay wagon in July/August 102 degrees, sweating {of course shirt off} with bare skin with those "gentle" hay bales stacking away...

Then off to the barn, unload, and stack some more...

Then back to the field and start over again... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

They'll be pleading "Lord... have mercy..." /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Don't remind me John hay season is only a few months away. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Mike and John,
It worked for the ranches maybe it could work for me. Boy just imagine having someone come out to harvest your crops, put up hay, etc. and having them pay you to do it!!!! But you know what it may not be so crazy. Those dude ranches get people to sit in a saddle for 8 hours a day eating dust, sleep outside, and eat from a campfire. Might have to think about this a little more. LOL

Mike...

Didn't ya know they filmed City Slickers at CowBoyDoc's "4-L's Ranch"... /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

After our TBN get together @ Empire Farm Days this August... Richard can work in a TBN gathering at his place...

{Richard... these guys will pay you to leave and go back home... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif}

I would rather take a joy walk on property but I used to do alot of tractor work in a developing subdivision and instead of unhooking truck from trailer I would drive tractor to town for lunch, it was about a 1.5 mile round trip just for the fun of it.

Richard, Tell you the truth it dont sound that crazy to me. And having them pay you, Now talk about having your cake and eat it to /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

John, Been there done that not going there again/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif But one year the farmer I worked for was having a hard time getting good young help so he hired these 2 girls to stack the trailers, no problem getting good young bucks then/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif and I still remeber their names to this day/w3tcompact/icons/love.gif

John,
Funny you should mention City Slickers. My family actually owns two of the horses from that movie!

And yes I do believe if we had a get together at my place guys would be paying to go home! One thing for sure is there is never a lack of work. Now would be a great time to come out though. This is my favorite time. I've got cows calving and mares having foals. I love to see all the new calves and especially see what kind of foals we had this year. Definitely alot of work but it sure is nice to see the rewards of a good foal or calf crop or having put a bunch of hay.

Richard, I guess you think I'm nuts, but I'm in the process of getting my equipment together for my first hay season. I can't wait! I helped a neighbor during the last harvest last year. It was tough work, but I enjoyed it. I know what I'm in for, and can't wait to get started!!

Wally and his brother Charlie the two that do most all the haying along with the wife's stepdad are always razzin' on each other about who can stack the fastest or who's stopping too much.

Charlie is always insisting ya got to cut him some slack because he's the older brother and that Wally ought to do more work because "He's younger than me ya know." /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Then that Charlie he would always say " I'm 71, and Wally here why he's just only 69." /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I'll tell you Rich. Even with all the hassle and worry with haying I'd still take it over having to depend on others for my hay. That caused way more hassle than just doing it myself. No it's a tough job for sure but it is rewarding.

Ah yes.... I remember those days.... hop on the Ford 3000 for a spin around the 80 acres... Those days are gone. While I enjoy tractor driving, running a commercial mowing business in the summer tends to take the polish off the enjoyment. Mowing lots in 95* heat and 90% humidy to keep the show running is mostly work. 15 days til closing on our new home in the country will certainly help, maybe it's just living in town that keeps me from that enjoyment!

In my profession i'am indoors all day long,no windows to look out ,never know when it starts to rain and have to deal with sick people who are usually not in the best of moods. At the end of the day i have to do something outside to retain my sanity. Three years ago i bought my first tractor and i must say that it is much more than just an expensive toy(as my wife likes to call it). My blood pressure begins to fall as soon as i hear the diesel engine start. I enjoy driving over my property just puttin' along forgetting the cares of the day.It is the best therapist i've ever known and worth every penny i paid for it.

Allan:

There are lot others out here who would mirror your feelings. Just the sound/smell of the diesel seems to change the neurotransmiter system to makeing all the good ones and that warm happy glow starts to prevail and the grin starts to get bigger and pretty soon it's " Who cares, I'm having FUN time "

You're cruel, John!! That is a little beauty!! I saw it mentioned in KC's ad, but I hoped it was a wreck, since they didn't have a picture. Well, if they have it long enough, we may check it out. My wife could help me with the snowplowing with that little baby!! This weekend, I'll be checking out some somewhat larger tractors./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I've only used my tractor twice in real work since I've purchased it. Once to pull on that tree that blew over and once to push snow. Pulling that tree probably took all of 15 minutes and playing in the snow maybe 1.5 - 2 hrs (experimenting with the grader blade). Yet I've put several hours on the tractor since I brought it home. Hmmmm /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. That grass has to green up any day now and I still have to figure out a way to use it to pull cattails out of the pond!

Boy, that is a nice looking tractor. I had looked at a few of them before I got my Ingersoll. I love the looks of them, but for the price people are asking, and how usefull it would be to me, I had to pass. I can get a lot more work out of the Ingersoll. I still keep my eye open, would still like to find one some day, but money has to go other places for now/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
