What would you be expecting a upgrade to do for you? I'm confused as to what the upgrade would entail. In other words, what would you improve with an upgrade?

Cliff...
Sorry, maybe I should have gave more detail; what I'm talking about is a single lever control for the hydraulics on the JD47 Hoe which would be the same or similar to the system used on excavators (large & mini). This would be easier to operate and control the hoe functions because instead of operating 2 separate levers, you would have the one lever or "joystick" like the mini excavators. I've rented a mini excavator before and found the joystick system a dream to operate and was thinking that maybe JD or an aftermarket company might have this system available to change the 2 lever controls to a single multifunction unit. Seen anything ??
Thanks

This is EASY!! Go use a 4 stick backhoe for a while! Then the 2 stick one will seem so great...

Have you used the 47 much? At first it seemed klutzy. but it quickly got better at interfacing to me... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mike....
I've only got 58 hours on the tractor which probably about 10 using the 47 Hoe so I'm far from experienced for sure. Now, a 4 stick would definetly be a challenge. Have you used a joystick setup & what do you think ?? Have you seen anything regarding a retrofit ??
Thanks
Eric

Mike.....
Further to my previous post; maybe I've got a minor problem with my unit because what I'm struggling with is the right control which controls the outboard arm & bucket is nice & smooth, but the left control which controls the inboard arm is "quick" and & I struggle with scooping smoothly toward me because of the difference in control "reaction". If you've got any suggestions I'd appreciate hearing them.
Regards
Eric

Eric,
What RPM is the tractor running at when you are using the backhoe. I have found that running at 1500 to 1800 RPM works best for me. The hoe is not as jerky than when running at higher RPMs.
