Juneteenth Federal Holidays=Bank Holiday?

Maybe the comptroller of the currency has the definitive answer?

Banking is problematic as temporary branch closures stretch into months.

Every year in High School we commemorated Juneteenth so maybe it is better known in Texas and Oakland CA...

I'm a federal employee it's not a holiday yet, but we will gladly take another.

I sure wish we could some rationalization into holiday establishment.
All should Fridays or Mondays, for obvious reasons.
Any could be joint (King and 'teenth, Memorial/Veterans, Independence/Presidents).
Any could spread out rather evenly.
The exact previous date (sometimes just a guess) does not affect the commemoration.
And the various Easters...

I tend to think the same. Never heard of it till this year, but I have only been a citizen for 15 years. Seems really stupid to me to have a national holiday for something that only happened in Texas but politicians need to cater for votes. That I understand.

Soon will have another holiday to celebrate the founding of CHAZ or CHOP or whatever it morphs into.

Just seemed odd the bank claiming a “Federal” holiday.

Bank closings are a big deal or at least they should be...

Many branches here have been temporarily closed for months which included credit unions...

May know more later today as special Saturday hours today.

Unplanned things happen... water leaks, a bus hits the building... looter trash the place twice in 30 days but this closing was planned and enterprise wide...

The Federal government will not designate another holiday because it is too expensive to pay all the federal workers for a day off.

What they may do if they want to designate it a holiday is they will combine 2 of our previous holidays into one to make room for the new holiday as they did when we had holidays for Washington and Lincoln and then they combined them into one holiday, Presidents day, in order to make room for Martin Luther King Day.

From what I understand about it, it's a Texas thing... in that, the authorities (at the time of the end of the US Civil War) held off officially ending slavery until June of 1865. Various 'regional' dates within that month resulted in the name "Juneteenth" as no specific date was proclaimed.

Line about 10 deep this morning as one left one entered...

Completed my 9 transactions and asked about yesterday's closing... the assistant branch manager said he only found out after closing on Wednesday...

He was a little surprised when I mentioned their government regulating agency had no knowledge Juneteenth being a Federal Holiday and then said it actually isn't yet but the hope is by next year it will be...

I mentioned the steady stream I saw of business people trying to do Friday banking and he suggested a new product called "Treasury" banking if I understood correctly saying it can eliminate most trips to the branch
