Recently acquired a older Jungers space heater for my shop. Need help with two items:

1. It is stamped "Use Nothing Heavier Than Kerosene". I recall as a youth, that they used Denatured Alcohol to start these. Does anyone know if this is correct and the procedure used to light it?

2. Does Kerosene get old like Gas or Diesel? I have approximately 3 gallons that is +10 years old. If it isn't good, how would I dispose of it?

Any/all comments appreciated.

Yes, kerosene gets old real fast and turns yellow. I have an old coleman number one lantern that burns kerosene via an alcohol pre-heater. Works good but a PITA to go thru all the steps to light.
