I would love to have a forklift around the house but my wife says I have enough toys all ready but I am sure it is only a matter of time. I have a couple of older Nisan fork lifts with heat & I am sure one will find its way home some time. I have some pretty big fork trucks with roll clamps on them. They are 10,000 lb lifts but the clamp alone is almost 3,000 lbs. We had an incident a short time ago where 1 of my employees turned it over. I hired this guy with over 30 years in the paper industry but he has never handled stuff as big as I do.
Fortunately nobody got hurt but things happen, he was stacking the roll and made the fatal mistake of lifting and tilting while moving forward instead of being over the roll he was stacking on. The roll was over 5,000 lbs. and was almost a perfect counterbalance so it was like a seesaw and set the clamp on its nose very softly. I have seen a lot of things happen with lift equipment over the years & not all end well. We have had them go over into a pile of rolls and start the domino effect. I have had them go out the loading dock & slam into support columns
