I knew a service tech that installed a natural gas burner in a water boiler used to heat an apartment building. He asked the owner who was there what he would like him to do about the oil tank and the owner told him since the tank was empty to just cut it loose from the old oil burner and he would see that it got removed from the basement

Bout a week later the owner called and was irate. Seems the oil company came by and did the automatic fill of the 275 gallon oil tank. the oil spilled out of the then disconnected tank ran across the concrete floor to a floor drain and ended up in the first septic tank. Seems the owner never called and canceled the auto-fill service and he wanted the heating company to pay to have the septic pumped and reimburse him for the lost oil.

I was always a bit more careful about oil tanks after that mistake. I was young and foolish back then. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Not closely related but not terribly different in concept, I was working in retail a lifetime ago and a customer brought back a childs "playhouse" ...

Asked if he had box (no)
Asked if it was defective (no)
Asked if there were any problems with it (no)
Asked if he had his receipt (yes)

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Why sir, are you trying to bring this back if there is nothing wrong with it, nothing defective with it and hmm... the receipt shows it to be over a YEAR old purchase???

his exact words...

"my daughter no longer derives any satisfaction from it"

I think that my experience in the pet shop can top that one. I got a call from a "customer" that purchased a parrot and wanted to return it. I asked a few basic questions, such as when it was purchased and the reason for the return. The purchase was approximately 6 years before that he was moving to a new apartment that didn't allow pets. I told him that it was not a returnable item after 6 years. His reply was that "this is America and I must take it back, no matter what!". I just hung up the phone after politely telling him again that it wouldn't be accepted back and that was the last time that I heard from him.

Junkman,

You mean to tell me you didn't take that parrot back? I can't believe that. Six years has nothing to do with it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif That poor parrot probably got set out in the street all because you wouldn't take it back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When we sold dogs, it was also a problem. One customer that purchase a Irish Setter Puppy took it home and fed it hot dogs and milk. When the dog threw it up, they returned the dog. There simple explanation was that it was what they fed the kids and they didn't get sick, so the dog was "defective". The store was diagonally across the road from a large medical training hospital, and we used to get all the foreign doctors that felt that the "land of opportunity", meant that they could take advantage of "not understanding the printed word or the spoken language". Whenever I ran into one of these people that gave me the stupidity stare as if they didn't understand, I would simple ask if they were a doctor at the University Hospital. If they answered in the affirmative, then I told them that I was obligated to report them to the state board of medical examiners, because if they couldn't understand simple English, they were not fit to be working with sick patients. This always cleared up there language barriers and they learned quickly that we were not going to be taken in by them. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My service manager came into my office today and told me about the complaint he got. I have heard many excuses and many complaints but this one takes all. The owner wasn't home when we went out to fix this guys furnace but evidently the owner is upset because my guy stole about 15% out of the LP tank. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

So after about ten minutes of LMAO I asked my service man how he did it. So we just all laughed some more.

One of the ones that takes the cake that happened to me is the guy that quit paying me the rent on a trailer space I was renting to him because the water well pump was hooked up to the electric meter.

Pretty sad you need to steal a man's propane from him. The only thing I can think of is you wanted to sell it to someone else? Is that how you get $4 for a gallon of propane now a days??

Man that no understanda de english thing just grates my last nerve. I have foreign neighbors. For seven years they have had no problems speaking english every last time they needed help. I have plowed their drive, helped fix their sprinklers etc. Last week a water line broke in front of our house. It was the citys problem but I was getting the typical 16 year old receptionist on the line telling me they might get around to coming out to look at it next week ! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The water was running down the sidewalk and freezing on the end of their driveway ( pavers ) so I asked if they could help me out by calling the city to complain. I was hoping we might get the water department out sooner if enough complaints came in to the city. All I got was the stupid blank "no speaky da english" stare followed by broken english indicating it wasn't their responsability ! No problem for me but I expect they are going to be a wee bit upaset when they find out how much their repair bill is going to be. Me, I just have a concrete drive. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
