Just blew a hose

Have you determined if the leak is from the crimp, or the JIC fitting? There is a type of hyd hose that will allow more of a bend/flex. There are also 45 and 90 degree fittings. You could also have someone bend some steel hyd line to your specifications.

Try this vendor . I just had a hose assembly made up for about half of the local hyd shop.

You simply tell them the hose type, fittings required, and the length.

Wow! I had no idea there was so much available. Thanks for the link...I think I can get things the way I want them now.
The leaks I have look as though they are coming from the crimped sleeves...coming out from where the hose meets the metal sleeve and it's only on the hoses that connect into a straight fitting but the hoses have extreme bends in them.

Thanks JJ. I bookmarked that one.

OK, Now I am going to show how I shouldn't own a PT

What kind of hose do I want? When I go to Crapa, I hand them my hose the bring me another. When I go to my favorite hose store, there is more of a conversation, but it generally ends with me saying 3000 psi and 2 wire.

I mean, there are a bunch of hoses here that all seem the same, with no real differentiation I can see.

Around here, SAE 100R2AT is the common hose however i did not like the bend radii for it so i looked for something else. For 1/2" or smaller, I bought SAE 100R16 because of the higher working pressures and for 3/4" and 1", I went with SAE 100R17 to keep my pressure ratings at 3000. From the descriptions, it is hard to tell what is different about them. They both have the same bend radius, made from the same materials, both 2-wire.

Had my first hydraulic failure this weekend.

Mowing the lawn, and all of a sudden there was a little river of hydraulic fluid purring on my feet.

One of the hoses from the steering cylinder to the steering wheel pump "degloved". The JIC fitting pulled off the hose, taking the rubber sheath off the hose in the process. I screwed the hose back on the fitting so I could drive (carefully) back to the garage.

One of the interesting things was that the hose had almost all the insulation rubbed off where it was zip tied to the other hoses in the center column of the tractor. An accident waiting to happen.

Fortunately, it was easy to just detach the 3 foot hose from both sides and carry it to the local Parker store. I was thankful it was not one of the hoses that ran all the way to the engine compartment. $30 and 20 minutes later, and I am back in business.

This happened to mine. The end pushed off the top of the lift cylinder next to the lift tilt control valve.
Writing on the old Power trac hose reads PARKER NO-SKIVE 421-3 WP 20,7 (3000 PSI) MSHA IC-40/10 SAE100R1AT-3 5 mm. I replaced it with a
PARKER NO-SKIVE 301-4 --- W.P. 5000 PSI ---MSHA IC-40/10 ---- ---- 4-2Q88. TYPE AT --- MIL-H-52471/5 ----- シ X 2W------- SAE 100R2
I know what some of these numbers mean but certainly not all of them.

That looks exactly like my hose looked. I wonder if this is a typical failure mode, or if Power Trac's hose crimping machine is turning out duds.

The steering cylinder doesn't see as much work or pressure as other hoses, so it is surprising to me that it would fail first.

One thing I would add is that I am amazed at how quickly hydraulic hoses rub down. I never thought of that as the hoses appeared to be static, but I guess they pulse more than I can see and I have had a number of wear spots that I have replaced.
