Just bought a 1990 Ford 545c: anything I need to be aware of

Just wondering if there's anyone who has one of these industrial loaders who can share any problem areas with this tractor. So far all I have noticed is a small leak in the powering steering but with 3,800 hours it seems to be working fine. Thanks

Mikey, a great tractor to own. If it is a 4wd, make sure you keep the front axle rear pivot greased and the axle topped with gear or hyd/trans. oil. Both pivots need greasing, but the rear also has an oring that can get dirt in it which can cause oil to leak from here. If there is no leak you're fine, but if it leaking you stand a good chance if loosing the reversing box gears or the front differential. Also, make sure the tierod hasn't been bent and rubbed under the reversing box.
Maintain the tractor and it will be a great purchase.

Thanks for the info. I wish it was 4wd but it's only 2. Once the snow flies (which should be any day) I'm sure I will be wishing it had 4wd.
