I have about 5 acreas to mow, so I went with the 60' deck Diesel engine. I use to have a Cub tractor with a 72" deck that my cousin took after my Dad passed away. I moved back home after a 30 year relationship and marriage fell apart. I brought with me a Simplicity 36" deck lawnmower and I was spending 5+ hours each week mowing,...large front yard, back yard with detached garage, and then the orchard.
I have never owned a diesel before, we had the Cub and still have the Massey Furgerston...It is about 50yrs old. I have mowed 3 times now with the G2160 and I am pleased with lawn tractor....I am glad I got the Diesel and the 60" deck. Mowing time now is about 2-3 hrs depending on how high the grass is and the speed I mow with. If the grass isn't high and I mow a little faster I probably could mow now in 2hrs. The Diesel gets extremely good gas miliage....after mowing 5 acreas the 1st time, I looked in the tank and it was still near the top. With the Simplicity I was going thru 5 gallons of gas each mowing. I dislike all the idiot lights and wished I had gauges. I even wish the gas cap had a float gas gauge like my Simplicity. The low fuel light or looking in the tank is the only way that I can tell how much fuel I have. Does Kubota offer any gauges that can be added to the G2160, because I hate idiot lights. Other than that I love the Lawn tractor and I wanted one that would possibly last 20 yrs or more.. The Simplicity is a good lawn mower but with the 36" deck I was wearing it out as well as wearing me out everytime I mowed.

I do know Stens sells those float level caps in a lot of different lengths for various depth fuel tanks, and probably has one that will work with the Kubota tank.

Yep, 5 acres with a 36" deck-- I mean I like mowing but maybe not to that extent of a full time job /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The Kubota diesel was a good choice, have a fun mowing season!

I have a G2160 that I bought last spring or the year before.... worst lawn tractor I've ever sat on. Sure, it runs like a tank, but the ride is incredibly awful and like you noticed, the idiot lights are a compete waste of time. Especially that yellow/orange one for low fuel that is supposed to be noticeable in daylight /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif When the engine starts missing a beat due to sloshing fuel, then it's time to refuel. Mine had three recalls on the deck the first year, too.
Kubota ackowledged that the seat was a poor design. Maybe I'll check out the new ones and see if they improved on it and if it will work on mine.

I don't mean to rain on your parade.... the tractor is a tough, no bog, pulling machine, but every time I see someone mention one I have to bring up that I could have found much better ways to spend my money. I just had high-lift blades put on it an hopes of improving the cut and that helped a little , but the Deere and CC on either side of me leave a much nicer appearance to the yards they cut.

Good luck /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The seat is a common complaint on many Kubota machines. The put the money into the tractor, not the seat. I also sell Cub Cadet and while they have a nice cushy place to set your butt, its not as much tractor.

I have since tightened down the bolts so the seat is no longer adjustable and this has taken the shake, rattle and roll out of it, and also lowered the air pressure in the rear tires, but I still have one heck of a stiff neck after 2-1/2 hours of mowing.

You are right though, it IS a lot of tractor and with a better lawn cut and more comfortable ride it would be one heck of a lawn tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I can easily see me in a ZD after trying one out a few weeks ago, or better yet a cheaper make/model but still diesel.
