Stopped snowing when I bought it, only a few inches in the last week but I crossed the 1 hr mark yesterday.

All the safety features drive you nuts though.

Other than the Yanmar diesel, any other difference than the 728SE?

They can be bypassed. The seat switch just needs a jumper wire. The reverse switch that shuts off the PTO is a little tougher, but since you don't have the deck on it, it's easier. There's a switch underneath the right foot inside the frame that gets hit when you push down the brake pedal. I think that one just needs to be rotated so it never gets hit when you push the brake.

Blame me for bypassing switches, but that reverse switch is stupid.

I haven't found the switch that doesn't let you run the PTO with the parking brake engaged. Say you are using the rear PTO to run an auger, the tractor should have the brake set.

You won't want that 54 inch snowblower. I have a X475, which is the same as yours, but mine has 2 less HP. My machine blows snow like crazy, but I can easily bog the engine down in 12 inches of snow.

I think the 54 inch blower would kill your machine as far as power. the 47 should be perfect with 2 more HP than mine!

Local dealer made same comment, especially at high altitude (6000ft where I am).

You kind of can....but to a point, you're always going slowly. My 2210 with a 48" blower is about the same setup and I rarely get to go top speed in ANY snow conditions. In Wisconsin, I could run a 54" blower but most time I'd be moving along like an inchworm.

It's probably six of one - half dozen of the other. I have a 48" and would not want a 54".

I don't mess around with this Blower unless there is 8 inches of snow or more! I have a rotary broom for all the Pee-Wee snows. 12 inch snows aren't all that RARE in Northern Wisconsin. In my opinion taking half a swipe just means you bough too big of a blower. I want to take a full bite, and let it take its time if necessary. These little tractors just DON'T have the power to run a 54 inch blower in the heavy deep snow. a 54 inch blower might work great on my 2520, but it would make my X475 shake in its boots from intimidation!

My X475 is only 23.5 HP if memory serves me right, and being a Gas engine, the torque is very low. A Diesel would handle the 54 inch blower better because of the Torque.

I don't see why you guys want bigger and bigger blowers when the tractors can't power the smaller blower in deep snow. I thing the 47 inch blower is Perfect on the X series because it covers the wheel tracks, but HP wise its almost too much for them.

When I first used the 47 inch 2 stage blower on my X475, I was baffled when the engine bogged down in deep snow. I honestly thought it would just blast thru the deep snow with ease, and I was dead WRONG! I burned almost a Half tank of gas in it in 2 hrs of blowing this big snow. It was working its butt off. Mowing it wouldn't use 1/3 that much gas.
