Went out today to give it a good once over as I was in a hurry when I picked it up.

Get to the very rear and notice only four fan blades. The catalogue the salesman gave me when selling me on it shows all single auger SB series have 5 fan blades and it was a deciding factor in my purchase.

I'm guessing they are trying to pass an older model off on me, and frankly i'm pissed.

Four fan blades is a good setup.... a LOT better than three. The important thing is the fan diameter and depth. The blades are the shovels, longer shovels [ larger fan diameter ] throws farther. I personally have not seen any with more than four shovels .... :)

That may be so, but I agreed to pay for a blower that was marketed as having five blades, so I want what I paid for.

Called and spoke to the sales guy I worked with. He was surprised that it was a 4 blade as he has only seen 5 blade meteors. He is going to do some checking and call me back

I checked on their Canadian site and they state that all Meteor blowers are now made with five blades....... so you are right...

Five Blade Fan
All Meteor Snow Blowers now feature a standard 5 blade fan. The five blades not only evacuate high volumes of snow quickly, but also feature tighter tolerance to the housing increasing velocity of the snow exiting the chute.

Just an update. Talked to the salesman I purchased the blower from. He is checking with their distributor rep to see when the new Meteors will be delivered. I plan to take this one back and get the correct 5 blade model.

He was very nice about the whole deal.

Good advice, thanks.

The driveway currently has a high crown/ridge in the center. I was thinking I should get out there with the box blade and flatten the road before the first snow. Thoughts on that?

Couldn't hurt - although a box blade might not be the best tool - I'd give it a couple of passes with a landscape rake. I second the "pick up debris" advice. I live in rock country - I pick up everything bigger than a golf ball at least 5' past the edge of the driveway. Never broke a shear pin except when I ventured out into the road and picked up a boulder, or chopped the throttle while the blower was full of snow (don't do that - turns into concrete and breaks ALL of the shear pins).

I'll get some pics up of the road as it currently sits. I have a grader blade and landscape rake
