You handled the issue correctly. A text that said grounded 3x --- I have been there with my teenage son!

One thing that strikes me --- here, if a child does not come to school and a parent hasn't already called to say the child is sick or won't be at school, someone from the school calls our cells and says your child isn't in school. So, that makes it much much harder to skip school and not get caught right away.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I stopped by the house of his buddy and his brother (owner of the truck) and laid the story out to the grandparents. They in turn called their son and I told him the story. Before I left both boys apologized to me and later that evening I even got another call from Kyllian's buddy and he apologized again. Apparently both parents called them and let them have it.

zzvyb6, it's not that at all. She's only been in the hospital for 5 days (Friday till today so far) and we've had close friends of family picking him up from school and keeping him overnight or bringing him home for when I'm there overnight. He's not to the point of raising himself; this is all new to all of us. Thanks though for the concern, I know it happens quite a bit in this new millenia world.

But yes, I did give him a bit of a lecture but told him I just didn't have time to totally deal with it now, I have bigger fish to fry. He knows I'm going to get back with him on it.

I'd lay on a guilt trip pretty good. Playing hooky while mom is in the hospital is pretty cheeky. About the only way that would be cool is if he did it so he could visit her!
