Just Changed Hydraulic Fluid in my 2007 MF 1540 - Hydraulics Dead Now

All the manual says is use "mf permatran iii". It would be nice if Massey Ferguson would spell out what type oil that meant. The cans of 303 say they are "for Massey Ferguson tractors" "where oil of the type is recommended".

303 is not a multi viscosity oil. It will not be thin enough at start up to protect your bearings. It is oil developed during the 60's Oil has change so much. Call your local Massey Dealer if you doubt me.

I use Tractor Supply universal hydraulic fluid. Fair price and never let me down.

The air compressor & rag did the trick! Only took a couple of seconds and the 3 point hit popped right up. THANKS!!!

:thumbsup:.....Glad to hear....some hydraulic pumps make lousy vacuum pumps.........when the oil level is below the pump intake sometimes it takes too long to pull oil in......I've used that trick many times on mobile equipment that others fail to prime.
