Mahindra Max 25 TLB
Ok guys,

Just wanted to brag about my new Mahindra. haha.

Over the past couple months i have been doing endless hours of research on a new SCUT. I have read forums and looked at literature for what seems to be hundreds of hours. I was in the market for a SCUT between 22-25hp diesel. I needed a loader for sure but also wanted a backhoe attachment. In the near future I will be added a snowblower (front mount). I was looking online for a used unit that would meet my needs but truthfully there is really nothing out there that is of a reasonable price. They are being sold for a couple thousand less than a new one. HOnestly these things hold their value so quickly i decided that there was no point to getting into bidding wars on ebay or searching for hours on craigslist for anything new that comes up because it simply was not reasonably priced.

So i narrowed my search down to 4 tractors
1. Mahindra 2014 - max 22,max 24 tier IV or 2013 max 25 tier III
2. Kubota BX 25 TLB
3. Kubota B2320
4. Kioti CS2410

Quick History, my father owned a 45hp mahindra about 10 years ago. Great unit, heavy, very nice cab but the Hyd were slow at the time. Sold that and bought a JD of quivelent size but that was a problem child and was not very good on sidehills pulling trees with a winch. Finally ended up with a equivelent sized kubota which he has now. I dont have nearly the need nor the land. I have 5 acres most of it wooded and dont need a mower. I only need hoe and loader.

So out I went to test out the brands.

The first was the Kioti, they did not have any on the lot and that was the only dealer within a reasonable amount of distance. I did try a couple of their tractors and was pretty impressed. I liked the seating position and they seemed to be built well. I was keeping them on the list.

Next i tried a BX25 - I was not a fan of this tractor overall. They did have some very good points though... I thought the seat was best of any tractor i had sat on. it had arm rests and was pretty nice. They also had a nice dash layout on the 2014. The bad was it was a light duty tractor and as i drove around the dealers lots i took it on some side hills and it really was not as stable as i liked. I just did not feel the tractor was planted. Overall lighter tractor, light duty, small tires, not much ground clearance i was going to need to scrub this. That combined with the dealer was not helpful at all and acted like he had better things to do than wait on me.

Next B2320 - Different dealer than above and this one was more helpful. They did not have a TLB they only had one with a loader. I did like this tractor... much more stable and well built. Hyd were fast and I had no issues with it with one exception... price. The price they quoted me was much higher than the equivelnt kioti approx 24,500. I did not haggle much but that did not include sales tax.

Next was Mahindra - I arrived and was greeted right away (NO other dealer actually came out and talked to me i had to go to them and ask for a sales person). The person i dealt with was friendly and knew the machine well. This dealer had no 2013 Tier 3 machines which is something i wanted. I dont want to be the scapegoat for a new level of EPA regulations. HOwever, i drove around a Max24 and an EMax 22 both TLB and was impressed with build quality. It is a heavy tractor. I quickly dismissed the emax because of the smaller tractor and less heavy. It was approx the size and weight of the bx25. The dealer was nice and allowed me to spend as much time as i wanted driving them around. We sat down and talked warranty and numbers. They were competitive with Kioti and way less than Kubota. But they did not have a max 25. I found a dealer a couple hours away that had one and bought it.

Yesterday it arrived and man am i happy with my choice. The machine is nice and well laid out. I took out a couple trees and leved some ground in a short period of time. I only have 1 complaint and it is more operator error i stopped one time and put on the parking brake. I never took it off and drove around for a while with it on. I wish there was a audible warning or a dash light that blinked when driving with the parking break on.

Other than that i love it. I will report back soon with more info.

congrats.

I did pretty much the same thing, except I also visited a Deere dealer. After finding out that the Deere was nearly 50% more than anything else, I left there in a hurry.

I studied them all for months and decided almost immediately that the Mahindra was the one I wanted, but still followed thru with all the visits and tryouts.

I got my 3016 last week and am extremely pleased with my decision.

Good luck with you new baby.

I've posted some of my exploits with my Max 22 on this site. It does a heck of a lot more than I expected, and I have had only a minor issue or two of no consequence. Love it!!

:welcome: from Ohio.

I have a Max 25. I went to the dealer because they were advertising a sale on Kubotas. When I saw they also had Mahindra's I pretty much made the deal on the spot.

About the only thing I would suggest is that anything that is "small" and detachable like turnbuckles, MMM wheels, cotter pins etc. you paint a fluorescent red/orange or something easily spotted in contrast to your grass/woods or similar.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Needless to say i am excited to have the tractor.

So now i have about 5.5 hours on it mostly at night after work doing some work around the house. I had some old trees that needed removed. They were evergreens that were dead from vines that were just killling them off. I removed 5 of them my simply pushing on them with the loader. I did some other grading work and yesterday i was cutting in a new little road around the woods on my property. I have only used the backhoe for a few min. Overall i am very happy with the build quality. everything seems up to par and the tractor continues to impress me everyday. Yesterday i did go over and grease it again as i never think the dealers put enough grease it enough. I checked everything out.

Is there anything i should be checking for when it comes to loose bolts or tpyical things that vibrate loose?

Very quickly here are my pro's and cons so far:
Pros
Great Power - I typically have been running about 1900 RPM and it does everything i need it to do
Comfortable - No matter what position the tractor is in i am comfortable in the seat
Pedal locations- While i thought i would prefer the dual pedal and not the tredle i really do enjoy this setup
built strong - the tractor is solid.

Cons
When i went to put the backhoe bucket into travel i did not realize you have to curl the bucket all the way first. I scraped the all the paint off of the hoe by pulling everything tight than curling the bucket.
Differential lock - the lever is too small and when i push on it i cant get enough of my heal on it to engauge it. It should be another 1" longer
Loader bucket flexes. I am sure that is to reduce weight but when i was pushing the trees i could see the bottom of the bucket flexing a lot.

Me too! :D

Go to TSC and get Majic paint color IH Red and it's a perfect match.
