Just got back from the ER

A friend of mine clipped his leg like that, and it was bad. I'm sorry that this happened to you.

I've been doing a lot of cutting on the ranch lately and I never even thought of chaps, but I have been wearing a helmet and gloves. I even have chaps for my motorcycle, so now I'm going to take them with me when I head back for more trimming.
Thanks for the tip.
And I'm going to be alone for a week with nobody around for a few miles. Now you got me paranoid. :confused2:

This is driving me absoultly bull ****. I would like to engage in the conversation on a topic but any post I make I am not able to see it. If one responds to half dozen threads in a day it helps to be able to review what you said.
Is this happening to anyone else?
I know my posts are making it to the forums because I see replies to my posts.:mad::mad:

This is just a test

I see them......

Hey Bo, be aware that MC chaps are a whole different animal (road rash vs chain teeth!). Saw chaps have a layer of very fibrous material that the saw teeth pick up which then jams the chain to a stop.

Didn't think of that either. So I guess I'm now looking for some new chaps!
Thanks.

Lots of places to get them, here is one...
Chainsaw Chaps
I buy from my local shop here. Price is higher but they know their stuff and can get me skip tooth's :) For some reason they are getting harder to find around here.
Be sure to check out the blood loss kit at the bottom of the link :) Doesn't do you any good if you get knocked out though.

Feeling stupid is always better than not feeling at all.

YIKES!!
I DEFINATELY need to get chaps.

I am usually extremely careful. After today I have a heightened sense of how quickly one can get injured. I was using a large pocket knife to cut a piece of plastic when it slipped cutting a chunk of skin the size of a match head off the knuckle of my middle finger. I could see the tendon. I was cutting on the same item a couple of days ago and put on a heavy leather glove just in case. Today, I was foolishly on the phone while working bare handed. I am mad at myself since I know better.
To make matters worse, I had a conversation with my 15 y/o daughter yesterday how a second of inattentiveness can lead to serious problems. I am a used car dealer and I let her drive a car around the lot. She thought she was in reverse when she pushed the accelerator. Now I have about a $500 dollar repair.

I have never used chaps. That is about to change. I always wear thick leather gloves and hold the saw offset slightly to my body in case of kickback. I also wait until the chain has stopped before I move the saw around after a cut.
The good news is I think my finger will be fine.
