Hi all,
Brand new to this Forum. I've read some of these threads over the last several weeks but only today registered.
I've been looking for a small tractor. I've checked out the John Deere and the Kobuta small B models (2320 - 2920). While I won't slam the JD models, I did think that the 3 range HST in the Kobuta's was the final draw that helped me make up my mind to go Kobuta.
So on Friday while running errands, I dropped by the local Kobuta dealer. Hugh mistake. A very friendly and knowledgeable sales rep spent about 2 hours answering my questions. Took one of the 2320's for a spin around the yard. Very nice. Payments at 0% down and 0% for 48 months were less then I expected, particularly when the dealer discounted the tractor some and matched it against some LandPride attachments (rather then Kobuta).
So after leaving with a quote, I talked to the DW (dear wife) and she told me "Quit bothering me about it and just buy it.".
So after sleeping on it, I decided to upgrade to the 2620 (just to make sure I had enough tractor). I drove back to the Kobuta Dealer, re met the salesman and went to upgrade, the only hitch being that the dealer had no 2620's in stock, "But I -do- have 4 2920's in stock, and I'll split the difference in the cost of upgrading you to a 2920 from the 2620." So I paid about $900 to up to a 2620 and then an additional $450 to go to a 2920.
Final package was a 2920, FEL, bushhog, blade and 50' tiller.
This Friday they were delivered. The same sales rep dropped them all off, all Kobuta orange, and then spent another hour checking me out on it and going through the sales contract. All done. I then drove it up to my wifes parents place (their farmers) and showed it to them. My FIL (Father in Law) doesn't have a powered tiller for his garden, so he immediately liked that. "Bring it up tomorrow."
Next day, we tillered his garden. He loved not only the tractor but the tiller. The HST drive was a little confusing to him, but he picked it up pretty quickly.
And today he called and asked me to come up and tiller another section of a field where he's going to do some more gardening. Now normally I don't have a lot in common with this guy, but the tractor really gives me something now to talk to him about that we both understand.
Really loving the B2920.
