If you're going off your experience with your CT235, that isn't going to help much.

It's still the same mechanics, lol. My loader is rated at 1,600 lbs at the pins, and I know for a fact that I can't pick up a 1000 lb pallet.

Center of mass on a pallet is 24" to 30" out from the pins, which is way more than a 20% hit on your capacity.

It will be very marginal.

From experience, you can pretty much half your loader rated capacity using pallet forks and palletized loads. So I will vote no.

All depends on the type of pallet forks. For clamp on deals, where you still have the weight of the loader, AND farther out, then yea, I can see a 50% reduction at least.

But taking the bucket off, and using actual forks, I dont see it. On any size tractor.

I believe that the 2638 pound rating from the pins does not include the bucket, or the quick attach plates, which look to weigh around 138 pounds. I believe this is why we often see 2500 pounds as the max list ratings for this tractor, from the pins.

like I clearly demonstrated with my tractor, I could lift a pallet of 50 bags of 40 pound salt up to a working height.. that also includes the weight of the pallet and my forks, which probably weigh around 300 to 400 pounds and are 42", effectively moving that weight further away from the tractor and make it heavier.

But I also found that lifting from the ground had much more power than lifting from the working height. So, I don't know that I would be able to lift that same pallet off of a trailer or truck bed.

Good info.

The 138lbs could be the SSQA, but the manual has a line "Attachment used for specification", and then "72", and below that lists the bucket volume at 15.85 cubic feet. That would indicate that they're using a 72" bucket for the specification testing. They also say that the data complies with ASAE testing, and ASAE standards for loader testing include the weight of a "standard bucket"....not sure if that's a universal standard, or determined by each company.

If you could lift 2,000lbs on a pallet, to a working height, it would seem unlikely that the loader spec could have been 2,638lbs minus 138 for the SSQA, minus 3-400lbs for the forks, whatever the pallet weighed, and then a 20%+ reduction for being forward of the pins. That would put you somewhere in the ballpark of 1700lbs max lift to full height, at the very best, because the far end of the pallet is probably farther than 24" from the pins. I don't know if anybody has a formula that compares full height weights to reduced height weights, but I'll bet it would be interesting.

Either way, I guess we'll find out eventually!

Bosco350, I would say that it will lift it, but with some ballast/counterweights. I have an LS U5020C with a LL5100 loader and I can lift ~1900lbs (1800lbs of cement + 36 Pails & Pallet) to full height at idle with no problems other than starting to get a little light in the rear. I used no ballast, but my rear tires are loaded. The LL5100 is rated for 2650lbs at the pin. IMAG0643-ERASER.jpg

Nice...Danny where did you get that light for your tractor? I have curled a 2200 pound lathe with my bucket before with no trouble..granted it wasnt with forks but i had the load curled at the edge of the bucket with straps

Patterson's included it with the package, but it's just a Grote light. I don't like where they installed it because it's on an angle at the rear of the cab instead of level near the missdle of the cab roof. I am going to see about re-installing it soon.

You can get them (in stock) at Parts for Trucks, Traction Diesel, Drive Products and often order them from CarQuest or Napa, not to mention various online retailers.

Well the answer is yes and no, I bought three ton of wood pellets and put the tractor to the test. When the pallets are on the trailer I can put just enough pressure on them to slide them out and drop them to the ground, once they are on the ground and I can curl the forks back and I can lift the load no problem at all and carry it . The loader lifts the load no problem but I can not curl the load, I feel this should have more curl back power on the bucket/forks is there something I could check here to get a little more curl back power?

First you say you can curl the forks back and lift the load, no problem, and then you can not curl the load? Clarification maybe?

When you're at the limit, you may need to increase the engine RPM.

Normally I don't notice much difference in the FEL power at a typical working RPM, but to get the last little bit of lift, and curl, I run the engine at around max RPM and will get more lift and curl.
