Kubota RTV 900
I've been needing (wanting) a UTV for a good while and have spent almost a year looking at different units. I finally decided on the Kubota RTV. I debated on getting a camo, but really didn't think I needed it, plus in the woods, I want to find it. Here's the equipment I have coming with it:

V4210 Hard Cab(includes glass windshield, cantilever doors, overhead console, cd player)
V4219 HD struts/springs
V4237 signal kit
V4214A cab heater
V4215 & 4267 Wipers
V4233 Speedo
V4266 Rear mirror
V4234 glove box
V4241 throt
V4239 work lights frt/rear
Side mirrors
Rumble seat
Trailer
Total= $18,165 (trailer is $1165, RTV= $17,000)

Will be delivered in about 10 days. Looking forward to working it. What do you think, did I miss anything? Thanks.

I'll probably add a winch later, but I did think about it. Do you all use an additive like Stanadyne in the diesel fuel?

I'm sure that you'll like the 900, but did you consider the RTV1100? For that much money, you could have the 1100 with a factory cab, air conditioning, etc. I hear that it will be available in 4 to 6 weeks.

Actually, he could get the rtv1100 and save himself about 2k.

I thought that the 1100 was larger and heavier.

The rtv1100 is bigger in the cab area for the dash with the outlets for the ac and heat. It has more legroom than the rtv900. The wheelbase is the same. The dimentions of the machine are slightly bigger.

The weight, 2500lbs. is about the same as the rtv900 as you have it set up with the curtis cab, heater, hd struts etc. The advantage of the rtv1100 is that it comes with a factory cab which is fully intergrated with curved glass, headliner, rear view mirror with heat/ac. It also has a larger more powerful engine (1105cc at 25 hp vs. 905cc and 22hp)than the rtv900.

I have a deposit on a rtv1100 worksite ultilty which I paid 14,800.00. The only thing is they don't come out for a month or so. If you do a google search for "Kubota RTV1100" you can get all the specs, pictures etc.

I am not that familiar with Kubota engines other than their good reputation. Is the 1100, 25hp engine a new design or just one that has been used on other Kubota tractors? I don't want to be an experiment.

The D1105 diesel engine has been around for at least 15 years and has been used by Kubota from everything from compact tractors, generators and mowers. For example it was used in the old F-series mowers in the F2560 and in the zd28 zero turn (which I own). It is part of thier super series 5 engines. Kubota also makes an identical version of this motor which is turbocharged which is primarily found in generators. You can goto Kubota Engine America - Compact Diesel Enginesfor more info. It is every bit as established as the engine in the rtv900, if not more.

As far as being "an experiment" I think the last thing you need to worry about is the engine. However, the rtv1100 is new and in many ways different than the rtv900 and this is the first year for the rtv1100. Although the rtv1100 is largely based on the rtv900, we all know that manufacturers tend to work the bugs out on new models as time goes on.

The reason I am willing to wait for an RTV1100 is not only price but for me a factory cab is far superior to an aftermarket bolt on unit. Plus the RTV1100 comes standard with many options like heat/ac, windshield wiper, cab with curved glass etc. Plus, as I understand it , the RTV1100 represents a sizable improvement over the RTV900 in terms of fit and finish, power and smoother transmission.

With all that said I do believe you would be happy with either unit. I believe the reason kubota will continue to produce both models is because the rtv1100 only comes in a cab version and alot of buyers don't want a cab so the rtv900 is the obvious choice.
