That's how I install my tire chains. The Tellesfdal chains are real easy since there are two chains that go around the tread that you connect first and then each side chain has a binder to tighten the chain up. You may find front and rear chains are over kill.

This is the way I put my chains on also after many times of trial and effort. I dug them out today and spread them out on the garage floor. It was 65 degrees and sunny today. Same tomorrow. Hard to get in the mood but the chains are probably going on tomorrow.

ya, i just wasnt sure. This is the first year im using the snow plow, and ive contractod out 2-1/2 miles of roads to do. I just dont want something to happen where i cant handle the buildup.

I safety wire everything after mounting my chains. If it's loose or a possibility that it may become loose it gets over killed with safety wire and pliers. Tight and tucked. When it snows that's all I want to take care of. Not the tweaking of my tire chains in the middle of a snow storm.

Because my chains have two chains that go around the outside of the tire on top of the tread I get those as tight as I can. The chains have binders on each side chain so I can tighten the chains very tight. I know they say leave them loose but with them tight they don't move around and I don't have to worry about the spring things to keep tension on them. The only thing that could loosen up are the shackles that keep the binder levers tight and I use an adjustable to snug up the pin.

www.tirechains.com recommends those chains be tight for most durability. Apparently, floppy chains can wear pretty quickly.
I've never heard of anyone suggesting they be a bit loose...not for snow, at least...and definitely not if they're to be used on pavement.

Yep thats my plan lol. Its rediculos what they are worth up here. cant afford them otherwise. I need new chains all the way around this year. I would build my own but it isnt worth it.

Tellesfdal recommends you leave them loose. I can't remember how loose but I don't always follow directions. Who knows, maybe they grip better loose or maybe they wear faster forcing you to replace them sooner, I don't know the reason why they say loose but I'll never find out because I like them tight.

i was hemming and hawing over 2 link vs 4 link, and decided on the 2 link to try and get a quieter and less bumpy ride. well see how it works out. Oh by the way... i invited the neighbors over for tritip this Sunday hehe

I used the 4 link v-bars on all 4 tires last winter and for my 300+ foot gravel driveway I did not notice the ride being too bumpy. On the gravel drive and the 1/2 mile of graded dirt road I help plow/blow I don't expect too smooth of a ride anyway but if I was on concrete or blacktop I might feel the difference. I will say that I felt VERY secure when things got icy even with the 4 link vs 2 link. With only an inch on the ground at my elevation I am having a hard time talking myself into putting them on. I lay them out and drive on them then readjust a couple of times until I get them spaced correctly and tight.

Just ordered front and rear chains for my DK45. Got the 2 link ladder chains so as not to hurt concrete/asphalt. Got them from tirechains.com..... 6 packages weighing in at 330#. YEIKS. My back already hurts and i haven't even received them yet. I'm going to have to trick...er ask ... a neighbor to come and help... er ... come and look at something in my shop.

I drove tractor-trailer for years and had to carry a full set of chains in most states, primarily California. Try putting on steer axle chains, two sets of drive axle double (covers both tires) chains, and two sets of trailer chains in the blowing snow at Truckee, California, drive the 40 miles then have to take them off! Your are right chains are heavy.
