If I consider the skin on my Duramax HD to be of similar material, this doesn't lend the cover, one sees in the movies.

You got that right - concealment, yes, cover, very unlikely!
but "beenthere" is absolutely correct, if the angle is right bullets will deflect off the things that you would never think of.

Sorry to sidetrack. Back in the eighties, some kid took his uncles HK 91 (7.62 FMJ) and opened up on a Police Cruiser. I don't remember if both cops died, but the one did, and it wasn't from the bullets. He got killed from the shrapnel from the cars cage.

The 21 K seems very cheap. Of course, there were development costs.
