I just purchased an older ford with a loader and backhoe. I am new to this formum so I hope I am doing this correctly.

the front tires are bad. they are a 6-16 tire. can I put light truck tires on the front or do they have to be implement tires?
also, where would the information plate be located on the tractor? There is one for the loader and backhoe, but can not find for the tractor. The tractor has Ford stamped on the fendors, and has a large Ford emblem on the front, about 4 inches round.

thanks in advance.

Jim

Yes-use the truck tires. The ribbed front rubber on tractors is supposed to help keep the tractor running in a straight line when doing field work (plowing, discing, mowing, baling, raking, etc). Not much help if the tractor is stationary as when you're digging with your backhoe.

Need photos of your tractor to answer your other question. It could be an industrial tractor rather than an agricultural model. Does it have a 3-point hitch on the rear end?

How many forward gears do you have?

I am with soundguy. Just from the photo it is hard to tell where it is a 600 or 800 series 1964 or older. Find the numbers per Soundguy's instructions.

Typically they are four cylinder gas engines. There were some 800 Ford diesels.

It looks nice for around the farm use. They can be worn out and still do a lot of hard work. If you are on your own place and blow a hose it can just sit until you get it fixed locally I can get hoses made 7 days a week until late at night.

Hi: I just found out 16 inch truck tires do not work. The bulge in the tire hits the steering arm by just a small amount, but enough to cause trouble. It the tire was taller, they would work. I also found out the tractor is listed as a 1953 Jubilee.

That is why I mentioned trailer tires, generally narrower
