Don't worry, the smell is still there, just not as pronounced.

And it's still red. :)

I use the pump stuff to be sure of getting ULSD. It's still green.

We bought a case of sulphur diesel fuel additive at the parts store.
You can do the same and add some to your bulk tank

What is the name of the sulfur diesel fuel additive that you are adding to increase the sulfur content of your diesel fuel?

Have you tried just pouring a couple of pounds of elemental sulfur into your tank to make sure everything is okay, raw elemental sulfur is super cheap, about $15 a ton.

If that's too expensive, you could uncap your septic tank and set up a distillation uint to capture and concentrate the hydrogen sulfide gas and recycle it into your diesel fuel tank.

WHY are you guys buying sulfur additive to put back into the fuel?

Sulfur is NOT a lubricant and actually does harm in putting sulfur compounds, via some blow-by, into the crankcase.

I'm buying from the pump just to be sure to get ULSD, rather than buy the cheaper off-road stuff.

I'd use bio diesel if I could get it without driving 100 miles each way to the refinery in West Point, Va.

Not only that, it is illegal to use an diesel fuel additive containing over 15ppm sulfur to begin with and all diesel fuel additives on the market must be tested prior to their commerical sale to insure that they meet that requirement,

That said, it is extremely unlikey that any store anywhere is selling any diesel fuel treatment designed to raise the sulfur levels in ULSD as the financial penalties are very very severe.

Sulfur is simply a stinking contaminate of most types of sour crude oil and septic tanks.

If anyone is interested in the ULSD fuels lubricity, the shop foreman where I deal said you could use a little oil in the fuel. However, talking to my local fuel supplier, he said that has been taken into account. SO, there should be no worries over the pump lubrication. That would be my greatest worry since diesel injection pumps are expensive to repair or replace.

Does your tractor use a Rotary Distributor Fuel Injection Pump?

These are historically the most sensitive to lubricity problems.
