For the last 3 days, 5 manure big trucks have been busy draining two large dairy farm manure ponds... dust is awlful... how ever, folks who live in townhouses next door who don't own lawns and walk there dogs on the fields are at wits end. Can't walk the dogs next door on property they don't own... People buy these $400,000 homes without yards and expect farmers next door to accept the dog @@@$.

mjarrels,I see a possible small business here.Sell plastic bags and pooper scuppers to the town home folks who want to use your land to walk thier dogs.Might be a good sideline,so much per month for the land use.:laughing:Dave

Gee, have we all heard this same story over and over again. "I moved beside a farm and the farmer has to change his ways"

I have 38 acres bounded by 1200 acres of hayfields owned by the largest dairy farm in New Hampshire. I knew this when I bought the property & knew about manure. At least 3 times each summer they spread liquid manure on the fields. Can't open a window for a week afterwards, but the smell goes away, neighbors would still be there. Manure is better than some neighbors. MikeD74T

Just tell them this is the "fresh" country air everyone talks about. Lol we call them fart trucks, because when they come down the road...you get the picture.

I'll third that sentiment!

Our neighbors inject their corn fields, which holds the smell down a LOT better. They usually run semi tankers for three or four days sunup to sundown to do this field. Within two or three days after they spread, you can't really smell it unless it gets hot outside.

The field was switched to alfalfa last year, so they'll have to surface spread now, so we'll see how that affects the linger :D

I think a lot of TBN members belong to the "400,000" homes with small yards next to the established farmer next door....hahaha

Theres an old man named Richard Winchester that lives in a house across from The city dump at Redbay AL. It was built and oned by one of the founders of Belmont homes company. Back then the dump took household waste to but was made into a rubbish site. The man that built and owened the house several years put an ad in the paper describing the house and location then said they had rats big as possums, it stunk in the summer and flies by the swarm and the Winchester man paid top price for it then complained for 25 years when it was true lol
