K&N for 07 gmc 6.6d ?

I have run K&N filters on all my racing engines along with just about everyone else I know. If there were issues with the design, we would be using them. For the past 15 years every one of my trucks have had a drop in K&N filter. My 02 250 got one the same day it rolled on the dealer lot new and I have not had any issues with them. Now, I can't speak for the GM trucks as I don't have any experience with them. I also wouldn't rule out issues with the filter caused by someone not servicing it correctly. I know this is apples and oranges here, but if you think a paper filter will out flow a K&N, put it on top of a 1250 cfm dominator.

Opinions seem to vary, but I like them.

That's the problem. A drop in filter that outflows the original is not filtering as well. Want more flow? Go bigger.

A used oil analysis has been done on countless engines with aftermarket filters and shown it in the oil.

I agree. to get more air in you have to have less filter media . No way I would install 1 of these so called high flow filters in my Diesel. You just can't get more air in without letting more dirt in unless, you install a larger filter

I don't really trust that indicator. I have never seen it move. Diesels need 3 things - clean air, clean fuel and clean oil. Since we only put about 15,000 miles a year on the truck it's not a big expense.

To test your indicator, pull it out and suck on the end. It shouldn't take much vacuum to get it to move. Our last Duramax lost it's indicator and we just siliconed a bolt in it's place.

I had a drop-in K&N that I installed in my '01 Dodge Cummins. within 8K miles my intake duct and turbo AFTER the filter was covered in oil and dirt. it WAS installed and oiled CORRECTLY!
the k&n can flow alot of air BUT it will lose its oil and dust the engine!

Don't know what to tell you. I have 240,000 Dirt road/Farm miles on my 250 an all with a K&N filter. My air intake tube is clean and the turbo is has been been changed.

HAHAHA, OK but you sort of missed my point. There's no drop in filter for anything running a 1250 carb and we run the biggest K&N filter that we can get under the hood.

Most people don't run a 1250 CFM carb and race engines are all about power, not going 200,000 miles. Also keep in mind just because someone says they have used them for a long time, it doesn't mean thing. I can say I never wear my seat belt and I'm still alive, there for not wearing a seat belt is safer. Just because it works for me doesn't make it true.

WOW.... OK, Umm.... You got me, I can't counter that. Like the old saying, every man to his own liking.
