Nope, that's standard JIC straight thread.
I won't argue that Bob. But I spent an hour going through spin-on fuel filters, and didn't find a single one that listed that thread size. Even then, both thread size and gasket height/diameter would have to match that of Chris's water separator canister.

My unstated supposition was that, perhaps the manufacturer purposefully used a different stem size to prevent unwary boat owners from mistakenly installing a fuel filter in place of the separator canister. But then again, I gave up lookin' through the fuel filters after an hour.

I'm curious about one thing regarding that (and other) fuel filter/water separator unit. It appears that the housing is a zinc casting. (Others offered on the 'net have said they were zinc.) I seem to recall that diesel and zinc shouldn't mix, that it results in breakdown of the diesel fuel and opens the way for HUMbugs and other ills. Is this not an issue on something like this where the fuel passes through it rather than sits around?

The investment castings you are referring to are ~ 70% aluminum. The big deal with diesel is not to store it in galvanized tanks. Bad Ju-Ju.

That might be the hard part. I suspect they make it that odd size so that fuel filters won't fit......(?)
I misunderstood - thought you were stating that 11/16-16 was an odd size, however it probably is unique for filter head threads. Never ran across it personally.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Bob. I thought that might be the case but didn't want to assume something and find out the hard way I was wrong. Guess how I learned that lesson? :ashamed:

Rich,
Forgot to mention the reason for not storing diesel in galvanized containers: The fuel will permeate the bond between the zinc and steel (assuming steel tank) causing the zinc to sluff off and become homogeneous with the fuel. This is all done on a microscopic scale but the contamination is exponential to the size of the container, and none of us want zinc floating around in our fuel systems, and aside from having absolutely no (say negative) lubricating qualities (bad ju-ju), it can plug filters rapidly in larger systems.
