About two months ago, wife lost my Navy Federal Credit Union debit card at a gas station. I felt sick. Canceled it two days later. Monitored the statement for two days and got my statement about 5 days later... NO damage, nothing spent on my dime Called the NFCU and had it reinstated.
Would have really been sick a year and a half ago when I put $58,000 dollars in the account to pay off the new house. Was at the local country store the other day and looked down, a Visa card on the floor. First thought, a prepaid visa, noticed the experation date 2014, not prepaided. Handed the clerk the card and said its not mine, clerk continued to swipe the card for the purchase... stopped him and give him my card. He hung up the phone and ran outside looking left and right for the lady who dropped the card. Hope she got it back, I got mine back because someone turned it in just like I did. I was driving the truck, 36 gallon gas tanks running dry. Doing the right just makes you feel good. Now have 5 tickets to Manila, leaving Dec 8. for 30 days (kids in school) and 60 days for us old retired folks. Plus just found well over $60.000 dollars in a farm maintenance account to replace about 5000 or more feet of fence. NOT out of my pocket!

A few years ago, well more like 10, :laughing:, I used to stop at a place to get bagels for breakfast when going to work. One day I found a wallet in the parking lot. It was a strange wallet since it had cards and only cards. I don't be credit cards. Cards as in Business cards. I was able to figure out who the wallet belong too and we met at the store a few days later so he could get his wallet back.

A few years ago, yes just a few years ago, we were on vacation at a resort and I found a room key in the hallway. Almost certainly they room key had someone's credit card linked to the card. I could have spent quite a bit of money with that room key. But of course I turned in the card to the resort to be returned to the owner. I would be willing to bet the owner did not know the card was missing before I found it and turned the card in.

I would have liked to have seen the card owners face when the realized the card had been turned in without "additional" charges. :laughing:

A few years ago, my son was at a concert at the Nissen Provillion outside of DC. Tens of thousands of yourng kids. Lost his wallet, about one week later, wallet was in my mailbox with everything inside. Some one spent money to return it. Gives you hope. He use to work at a large park, found a wallet full of cash/cards and returned it.

A couple of years a go I was waiting to use an atm machine. The lady I was waiting on finished and got in her car to leave. I tried to put my card in the machine and it would not take it. I finally looked at the screen and it said "return card" or "another transaction". I chose return card and this lady's card popped out with a picture of her on it. I look around and saw her headed down the street. I noticed that she pulled into a Dr's office. I finished my transaction and headed to that Dr's office. I walked into the waiting room with her card in hand, panned the room and walked over to her. I said excuse me I think you left your card in the atm machine and handed it to her. Money can't buy the look on her face. She was very grateful.

i allways try to do the right thing and expect others will not. this way i'm not let down but happy when others do right
