my biggest reason for switching from norton to kaspersky was when my wifes computer would not boot one day.. it had norton on it. in subbscription and up to date. I suspected a virus.. got kaspersky, booted via their cdrom rescue disck.. it found 241 infections that norton must have been happy to play cards with. go figure.

yes that's right. kaspersky found 241 vira and trojans that norton didn't even see.......

sad.. norton used to e good.. back before it was symantec...

FWIW...The latest issue of Consumer Reports rates computer security software...

For the free versions...they rank:
1. Avast...score 57
2. Avira...score 53
3. AVG...score 51
4. MSFT SE...score 38

no others listed...

commercial versions:

1. ESET...score 65, $80
2. G Data...score 64, $65
3. F Secure...score 60, $60
4. Kaspersky...score 59, $80
5. Bitdefender...score 59, $70
6. Avira...score 59, $100
7. Avast...score 56, $60

10. AVG...score 53. $70
11. McAfee...score 52. $80
12. Norton...score 50, $80

( I had to double check but yes...the free version of Avast rated higher than the $60 version...go figure...!

Personally I have never run ay full time AV software...I find it way to taxing...if needed I like the online scans like Trend Micros "Housecall"...I do run a leak proof firewall ...and BTW...the only problem I ever had was when a virus got brought home from the local high school on a disk...

try downloading firefox or chrome and jus tload it up as needed for that forum. might be a browser interaction issue with the plugins.

Installed Chrome and it does not display the forum either... :confused3:

try just turning off kaspersky right when you visit that forum.. then re-enable it from the tool tray.

it's been a life saver for me.. way better than symantec..
That doesn't take much :D
Kaspersky has worked well for us here at work. I run MS Security Essentials at home with no complaints.

Apprecate the suggestion but it floors me when the IT department at work 'fixes' a problem with a "work-around" so I definitely don't entertain that at home. Others here with Kaspersky view the forum so there has to be some setting somewhere that needs to be modified. Once I determined that Kaspersky was blocking the site then tractorbynet tech support dropped my concern like a hot potato instead of helping find the solution. Oh well, membership is free, can't complain.

I've been using Norton ever since my first computer, so maybe I'll change someday, but not quite yet.

I don't doubt for an instant that a lot of you guys know more than I where computers are concerned, but when I bought this computer, one of the options I accepted was Norton Internet Security (I guess Hewlett-Packard still believes in them). I also had Norton Internet Security on my old computer, so I called Symantec and they "combined" the two (I guess that's the right word). Anyway, as of today, I still have 412 days left on my subscription. I'm currently using Charter cable for TV, telephone, and Internet and they've been offering their own guaranteed virus protection at no additional charge. But I also like Norton's password "vault" or password manager. Maybe one of those things would make my computer faster, but it's fast enough for my purposes now.

I still like to hear about other products and their users' opinions, might want to change to one of them someday, just not right now.;)
