Keeping out the mouse

Ok, you people are beginning to scare me.
I tried to smell "moth balls" once.
Couldn't figure out how to get their little
legs apart.

The bucket idea does work great though.

I have heard that keeping the hood open (or sides removed, as in the case of my tractor) keeps the mice from nesting in the engine compartment. I've never had a problem with them - at least yet, even though my barn is infested with the buggers. I have been keeping the sidecovers off of my tractor lately, but I'm not saying that is why.

JayC

I also leave the sides off of my tractor. Haven't had any problems since.

I don't have the problem with mice in my shop. But the house is another story. I one I built, also uses the bucket method. But, I use a ruler and counter weight. They get to the end were the peanut butter is and there weight is too much for the counter weight. The ruler fall's down and they land in the anti-freeze. Once they fall off of the ruler, the counter weight pull's the ruler back up and it's reset for the next one that thinks he's getting a free meal. I stopped counting after I caught 17 of them.

That's neat -the bucket trap.
but A cat will also keep the mice from wanting to come around.
As far as feeding the barn cats, If you have a big enough mouse problem, you don't have to feed them for a little while.:thumbsup:Makes them work harder. I have been without cats before and had mice, with cats not a sign. Except sometimes they will just leave them by the door, just showing off I think.

Mice:(
Ran 200 ft of buried 2" PVC conduit at my remote land for the sat tv cable.
Put a junction box at a right angle turn, in about the middle.
Took the lid off the junction box recently and a mouse had built a nest in it and chewed the coax all up. Little bugger was traveling back and forth through 100 ft of the conduit:laughing:

Mouse repellents.....

My x wifes cooking..... Bwahahahahahaahaha

Two little tricks I have learned.
Put urinal "biscuits" in an old jar lid. They will peel paint.
Soak old wash cloths and like size pieces of old towels in 1/2 water and 1/2 liquid fabric softener, and let hang dry.
(= home made dryer sheets, and they are reusable)

Bait traps with Honey Nut peanut butter.

Good hunting
