I don't have any sway in my links, but it is a great idea to load washers onto the pins to minimize any flex in the system.
Pre-digging a few inches seems to help, but if my PHD really bears down into heavy soil, it will still slant a little.
You guys are lucky if you have a helper - I usually have to work solo. We probably all agree its rewarding, but an extra set of hands sure would help sometimes.
I suppose if there is enough room in the hole to get the post straight, it probably doesn't matter if the hole itself isn't perfect.
