Keeping seat clean

What does everybody use to keep their seat clean and soft? The yellow color seat on my JD4210 always seems to get black marks on it. I did buy some stuff last night at the JD dealer but the salesman told me the cleaner is nothing more then a household all purpose cleaner. Although it did clean the seat fairly easily I think anything would work. I bought some of the JD vinyl presertive to coat the seat with but we'll see how effective it is in keeping the seat from getting dirty. Let me know what works and what doesn't........ /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Since mine is black it only gets an ocassional hosing off. I use Murphy's Oil soap on the vinyl stuff on my boats and it does a good job.

To keep the brown stains off of the yellow seat stay off of the really steep slopes /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
For me it is change the folded up feed bag on the seat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Need to get a new seat /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I grew up thinking all tractors had feed bags on the seat.

I used to keep the seats in my boat clean with a product called "Roll-Off"... Made specifically for vinyl it worked great. Really stubborn dirt might require a little scrubbing with a sponge but most of the time I'd just spray it on and host it off (the dirt would "roll off", hence the name /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). I got it at the local boat dealer...but I just checked now and got a bunch of web hits for it as well.

Be careful about using a silicone based product on your seat. It can make it very slippery. I learned that lesson the hard way years ago on a vinyl seat in my 63 Plymouth. Turned a sharp corner a little too fast, and I found myself sliding across the seat. It's a good thing I was hanging onto the steering wheel with both hands. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I keep my yellow Deere seat clean by keeping MY seat clean. I finally got in the habit of wiping my hands off on the front of my jeans rather than on the back pockets (not implying here that your back pockets are dirty, please). Makes a big difference when getting into the truck with cloth seats too. It takes a lot of discipline to keep the back of the pants clean, plus watching where one sits too. If the tractor seat isn't yellow (and it is supposed to be), don't sit on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How often do you see mechanics with grease on their back pockets? Way too often. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I use an Amway cleaner, which used to be called "Zoom" and now is an LOC derivative. Works good for me.

ANY goog all purpose cleaner will work, thing is , not to let the dirt get embedded, if it is that important to u clean it often. also watch out for softening agents they have tendncy to be very slippery.

One of the best all purpose cleaning/preservation products is made by Honda. They sell it at my local motorcycle dealership. It's in a spray can and I believe it's called Honda Pro Clean (it's in the shed outside and it's raining, so I can't go see). Not only does it clean, it helps it stay clean. It's good on paint, vinyl, etc. I clean my whole tractor with it. It really works great on those areas where you don't wan't to, or can't, wax.
