Any tricks for efficiency?

By time I check all the forums/threads I'm interested in, it's time to start at the top again and repeat. This could be a full time job.
How do you all keep up and still get anything else done?

Yes, don't browse forum by forum -- just save your bookmark to TBN as a list of recent posts. I use Posts in past 12 hours.

You can quickly keep up with posts as they are added regardless of what forum they are in. This, in my opinion, is the best way to use the TBN site.

Thanks. I'll try that more. I started using that a few days ago but before I got accustomed to that approach, I wanted to see if there was an even faster way. Initially, I thought it was a little more difficult especially when there was several posts in that timeframe. I guess you need to put them out flat so you know what's being responded to.
I do find getting e-mails pretty handy.

I use Dave's approach as well but get swamped if I've been away for a couple days or more. Then I do a couple of things: First, I check to see who's online. I find myself (big surprise) and click on my name. Go to my most recent posts and check those for responses. After all that I'll check forums I particularly like then try to catch up on the past XX hours. The worst part about TBN is having to be away from it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Spend an hour a day, and the next thing you know it's 365 hours a year, which is two full weeks of 24x7.

Kinda scary.

I use Dave approach also.
Plus I always check the Add this thread to my favorites box when I reply to a thread. My profile is set to send a e-mail to responses to my.
In Out Look Express I have a TBN Folder. All Tractorbynet messages go directly to that folder. My in box is never cluttered with TBN messages.
Since I already look at the messages that I have replied to. All I have to look at is new messages not "RE". I still miss a few but they get attention because someone has replied to the thread.
The Favorite Thread! Toggle option can also be hit in a thread to send it to your email account. The option is at the bottom of a thread page.
I use the Flat mode when viewing messages. This allows all messages in a thread to be viewed. This may not be a good option if you are on a slow connection.

Today, I'm doing it ONLY the way Dave suggested.
So far, so good (and it is faster).
The issue I mentioned before about "flat" was from e-mail, not from using this method.
I'll keep doing it this way but will have to play with the # of hours window to try to figure out where I last left off.

I don't .... I have a life outside of TBN that is interesting enough that I don't have to try to keep up with everything on TBN...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Besides, if there is something that is particularly "juicy" a few of the TBN friends will e mail me with a link..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's probably why you've posted so much today too! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
